Alejandro Abascal García

Sports director of the High Performance Sailing Center Príncipe Felipe, Deputy Director of Santander 2014 ISAF Sailing World Championships and member of the Spanish Olympic Committee.

Alejandro Abascal (Santander, 1952), known as Jan Abascal, was champion at the Moscow Olympics Games in 1980 in the Flying Dutchman Class. He played in two more Olympics Games, in Montreal (1976) where he was seventh, and in Los Angeles (1984) where he was the Spanish standard bearer and he earned eleventh place. On the three occasions in the same class: Flying Dutchman. World Champion in different categories, has been part of the Spanish Team in the most important regattas as America´s Cup, Admiral´s Cup, etc… Currently he is the sports director of the High Performance Sailing Center Prince Philippe of Santander, and member of the Spanish Olympic Committee.
