PhD in Economics. Associate Professor (1976-2013) at the Department of Economic Policy and World Economic Structure, University of Barcelona. During the same period, he established himself as consultant in Urban Planning and Port Economics. He is the author, co-author, and editor of numerous books and has published extensively in scientific journals and as book chapters regarding the organization, planning, and transformation of ports. He has actively participated in numerous international congresses as a speaker and lecturer. His international expertise is reflected in numerous planning studies conducted across Latin America (including Buenos Aires, Rosario, Santos, Cartagena de Indias and Valparaíso) and Spain (Barcelona, Tarragona, Vigo, Balearic Islands, among others). He has served as a consultant for major international organizations, such as the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF), as well as various ministries and port authorities, focusing on port economics and organization. A member of the Scientific Committee of RETE, he is the Founding Editor of the PORTUS magazine. His current research focuses on port-city economic relations, urban-port redevelopment financing, and port heritage.
