Introdução
O Portrait de Matosinhos é composto por 3 entrevistas e 11 artigos que descrevem não apenas a cidade, mas sobretudo a ligação única desta ao seu porto e ao mar.
Foram entrevistados a presidente da Câmara Municipal de Matosinhos, o presidente da APDL (Administração dos Portos do Douro, Leixões e Viana) e o presidente da Comunidade Portuária, que descrevem a sua entidade e também contextualizam a relação porto-cidade, sendo complementados por um artigo da vereadora da Economia em que esta ligação é apresentada sob 3 perspetivas improváveis: Urbanística e de Planeamento, Visão Económica e do Turismo, Visão da Segurança e Resiliência.
O presidente da Associação do Turismo do Porto e Norte de Portugal descreve o impacto que Matosinhos – através do mar e da ligação ao porto – tem no turismo, sendo o tema aprofundado pela Cruising.Org que desenvolve uma análise especificamente ligada ao turismo de cruzeiros.
A Associação Portuguesa de Escolas de Surf analisa a ligação do mar e porto a este desporto aquático, a Pinhais reflete sobre as características únicas de Matosinhos e a sua importância para a indústria conserveira, sendo também apresentada a contribuição do historiador Joel Cleto que desenvolve um enquadramento histórico da cidade e algumas das suas infraestruturas portuárias.
No ramo da investigação e inovação o Portrait conta com um artigo do CEiiA – um dos maiores centros de engenharia que atua em parceria com o município também na zona portuária, dois artigos do Ciimar – um dos maiores centros de investigação marinha e ambiental em Portugal – sobre os contributos para o desenvolvimento científico desenvolvidos a partir do Terminal de Cruzeiros de Matosinhos, um artigo da Fórum Oceano – que descreve o projeto “Hub Azul” e todo o seu impacto – e, ainda, um artigo da Ocean Inifinity – uma das empresas mais inovadoras de Matosinhos e cujo trabalho irá impactar profundamente os vários navios em circulação e, consequentemente, os portos em atividade.
Apesar de todos estes contributos e do elevado detalhe nas análises apresentadas, Matosinhos é uma cidade sobre a qual melhor se aprende não lendo, mas sentido. Assim, a equipa coordenadora convida todos os leitores do Portrait a visitar a cidade e a conhecer pessoalmente as maravilhas locais, sentindo em primeira mão a incrível relação e dinâmica entre Matosinhos e o seu porto.
Matosinhos’ Portrait is composed by 3 interviews and 11 articles that describe not only the city, but mostly the unique connection between the city, the port and the sea.
The Mayor of Matosinhos, the President of APDL (Administration of the Ports of Douro, Leixões and Viana) and the President of the Port Community were interviewed, describing their entity and also contextualizing the port-city relationship, being complemented by an article by the Councillor for Economy in which this connection is presented under 3 unlikely perspectives: Urban and Planning Vision, Economic and Tourism Vision, Security and Resilience Vision.
The president of the Tourism Association of Porto and North of Portugal describes the impact that Matosinhos – through the sea and the connection to the port – has on tourism, and the theme is explored in depth by Cruising.Org, who develops an analysis specifically linked to cruise ship tourism.
The Portuguese Association of Surf Schools analyses the connection between the sea and the port to this aqua sport, Pinhais reflects about the unique characteristics of Matosinhos and its importance to the canning industry, also presenting the contribution by historian Joel Cleto who develops a historical background of the city and some of its port infrastructures.
In the field of research and innovation, Portrait has an article by CEiiA – one of the largest engineering centers that also works in partnership with the municipality in the port area, two articles by CIIMAR – one of the largest marine and environmental research centers in Portugal – about the contributions to scientific development developed from the Matosinhos Cruise Terminal, an article by Fórum Oceano – which describes the “Blue Hub” project and all its impact – and also an article by Ocean Inifinity – one of the most innovative companies in Matosinhos and whose work will profoundly impact the various ships in circulation and, consequently, the ports in operation.
Despite all these contributions and the high detail in the analyses presented, Matosinhos is a city about which you learn best not by reading, but by feeling. Therefore, the coordinating team invites all readers of Portrait to visit the city and get to know the local wonders personally, feeling first-hand the incredible relationship and dynamics between Matosinhos and its port.
