As a private architect, she has worked since 1985 mainly in the areas of urban planning and housing projects. As a civil servant, she worked for the General Directorate on Urban Planning at Spain’s Ministry of Public Works and for Madrid’s Regional Government. She has been a lecturer in regional and city planning at the Polytechnic University of Madrid’s School of Architecture. Ms Bonilla has an MSc in Urbanism and town planning (Polytechnic School of Architecture, Madrid, 1970); an MSc in Architecture and construction (Polytechnic School of Architecture, Madrid, 1970) and a PhD in Urban Planning (Polytechnic School of Architecture, Madrid, 1972). She has also attended a postgraduate course in Urban Planning and Management (Institute of Municipal Government, Madrid, 1976-1978); a postgraduate course in Regional Planning (Polytechnic University of Madrid, School of Civil Engineering, 1978-1979); as well as having obtained a diploma on Environmental Control (Open University, United Kingdom, 1998). She has worked in the area of the Bay of Cadiz since 1985.
