Giovanna Piga is an assistant lecturer at the Kent School of Architecture. Her PhD in Architecture focuses on sustainable urban regeneration of coastal towns and she has written on the adaptive re-use and rehabilitation of building and urban heritage, the integration of contemporary design within historical/archaeological context, rapid urbanisation and city resilience. She has taught Architectural Design, History and Theory of Architecture, Drawing and Topography of Ancient Rome at various schools of architecture. As a registered architect, Giovanna Piga began her career in practice, working in Rome and Genoa, designing and coordinating various projects and entering numerous design competitions for which she was awarded first prizes and finalists. Her projects are published in a wide variety of architectural magazines.
