Marco Platania is researcher at the University of Catania where he teaches tourism economics. His study topics concern local development, regional economy and tourism. He has been a visiting professor in international universities and has coordinated several projects on the development of tourist destinations. He is also a regional delegate of the Italian Society of Tourism Sciences (SISTUR).
