Born in João Zamith, born in 1975, has dedicated his life to watersports and maritime affairs. He is a former professional surfer and national coach and team member with the Portuguese National Team, and launched the first chapter of Surfrider Foundation in Portugal. He holds a degree in Management and Masters degree in European Studies from University of Coimbra with a thesis on “European Integrated Maritime Policy”. João Zamith has a strong background in managing European projects. He was the environmental coordinator of the EU funded “Nautisme Espace Atlantique” to promote the development of the nautical sector in the Atlantic Area and also coordinator of “Surfing Europe” which defined and promoted a sustainable transnational surf tourism network. He is also part of several projects co-funded by Erasmus+ Sports. Currently he is the director of Surfing Viana HPC, chairman of the Surf Clube Viana and vice chairman of the European Network of Outdoor Sports (ENOS). He organized the “Outdoor Sports Euro'Meet 2019” and represents ENOS at the EU Sport Forum.
