José Alberto CARBONELL

President of the Port Authority of Barcelona. Barcelona, Spain.

He is a Civil Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, has a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from EADA Business School Barcelona and a Senior Management Program (PADE) from IESE Business School. In 1991 he began his professional career at the Port of Barcelona, holding different positions, until in January 2009 he was made director of the Barcelona Port Authority, a position he held until October 29, 2024, when he was appointed President. In March 2024, the company Train Port Barcelona was created, with a stake in the Port of Barcelona and Adif, of which he was named president since its foundation. During his time as director, he has participated in the process of transformation and modernization of the port, in accordance with the entity's successive strategic plans. More recently, he has been notably involved in the organization of the America's Cup in Barcelona. In 2022, he received the Medal for Professional Merit, awarded by the College of Civil, Canal and Port Engineers.
