With a degree in pedagogy from the Catholic University of Pernambuco (Unicap) and a specialization in administration, Minister Silvio Costa Filho began his political career in the university's student movement. In 2004, at the age of 21, he was elected the youngest city councilor in the history of Recife, receiving the 4th most votes in that election. Two years later, in 2006, at the age of 24, Silvio Costa Filho won a seat in the Legislative Assembly of Pernambuco (Alepe). As a state deputy, Costa Filho served in the role for three terms between 2006 and 2018. During this period, Costa Filho was deputy leader of the government and Secretary of State during the administration of former governor Eduardo Campos. In 2018, the minister ran for the first time and was elected federal deputy, being reelected in 2022. In the Chamber of Deputies, Costa Filho took on important committees such as the CCJ and rapporteurs of projects such as the autonomy of the Central Bank.
