The conversion of the port in Valparaiso Waterfront: urban regeneration and the identity transformation

The port of Valparaiso begins its port modernization process since the year 1997 have witnessed various initiatives that reflect a process of transformation port in the global era.

The waterfront “Puerto Baron” comes to realize a model of port cities in globalization aspect, however in its management, process design and the project has been contradictory regarding the consistency of Valparaiso. In principle the waterfront “Puerto Baron” is the way the port of Valparaiso begins a dialogue globally with other ports in the world, but it can also mean the end of the model Heritage Site by UNESCO, the city had acquired from the year 2003.
